Interesting color dT! It does look quite milky. I'm wondering if it's because of the stones in the water...?

This is the "true" color; and when one first sees it, it seems rather strange. The milkiness is the result of glaciers, which move slowly over the rocks and grind them to fine powder (a scientist would say "colloidal") which makes its way into the water. (Too much information, dT?)

Thanks for explaining that dT! I can never get too much info on things especially when it's as spectacular as this one-- so feel free to put stuff into my head anytime... ;)

oo such stunning beauty. The water looks so pure. Is this near where you live?

No, Michael, I live in California, and this photo is from the Canadian Rockies just north of Banff. And of the two places, Canada is better (but also rather cold in January). ;p And thanks!

Hey, thanks Paul. And, yes, that part of Alaska is one of my favorite places on earth. I often vacation there near the little town of Homer. But, alas, I've never shot many photos there. I'll have to change that.
