So Swiss by GeraldWinslow So Swiss by GeraldWinslow
Last in the series from Switzerland, on the way to Gruyere and Geneva. It is not difficult to see why this place has lured me back for over 30 years.

Well...I've spent a lot of time on the SBB and also on the BOB (Berner Oberland Bahn). It's really hard to do better than living in Switzerland, as you know far better than I! And thanks for looking!

I love Bavaria, and also Austria. I live in Salzburg for a time, and I still feel very much at home there.

(how do i say that in english? :) ) are you travelling that much because of your profession or is it just for fun? *green with envy*!! :D

Most of the travel happens because of my work. I am a professor, and I give lectures or seminars in many different countries. But I also usually take a few extra days to look around and play with the camera. ;p

Switzerland is still on my list, one of the few countries in Western Europe that I haven't been to yet. Those mountains look very tempting!

Hello Dr. Photolosopher! And yes, do go visit those inviting mountains in Switzerland. You're so much closer than I am, and I try to go most every year.

Hi Justyna! I think you should head down there for a visit. A train ride from your place should get you there in a day, right? Thanks for the nice comment!

Oh I wish...! Do you know that one of our mutual colleagues at LL has property near there? It's true...I even saw the papers because she recently got a missive from the Swiss government about the property, it was auf Deutsch, so I got to be the translator.

Yep, I completely agree. Many US universities have campuses in Europe. This past May, I met an American in Florence who had lived there for over 20 years while running a program for a major US university. So...I nominate Florence. But Interlaken would work for me, too! :D

Hi Ms. C, and yes, I hiked hard for two full days -- much of the time in the snow. It was wonderful. And just think how close you are to this place!

i used to go in the south east of france, in "alpes maritimes" but not in the coast but in old villages [link] more far than sea. I used to go also in the island of ré, in the west of france [link] in this place, there is a lot of birds to see!

Hi Juan. And, yes, I can hear the sound of music now. And just wait til I get to my Austrian pics from a couple of weeks ago. We'll all be singing, "Do, a dear,..." etc.
